If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
Content is hard to come across especially without paying a bucket of money for it. Being a small startup blog I try my hardest to update this blog daily but it is practically impossible. So what I am looking for is simply just a guest post. There are a few little rules:
- Posts must be more than 250 words
- Posts must be unique and written by you
- Posts must be friendly to all audiences - please no swearing
- There is no limit to how many articles you submit
There are two ways of entering, and two different prize pools. The first method is by signing up here and then I will make you a contributor. Then you can submit your posts and once approved they will go live on the site. The other method is by signing upto RSS by email by clicking here. Obviously the prizes for writing an article are much greater than the ones for subscribing to email. You are aloud to enter both to increase your chances. If you are already a feed subscriber you are alloud to subscribe to email aswell.
We will judge on the best article’s by checking to see if they are popular. By doing that we will check to see there hit count, if they brought in alot of links, if they were commented on alot (no spam), if it was a big hit on the site. Ultimately the decision will come down to which article me and a great friend/mentor Jamie Silvester think.
Now I know you all want to know what the prizes are so without further adue!

I’m interested, but what kind of topics are you looking for in posts?
Sorry, didn’t meant to post right away. Would you accept posts such as wordpress tutorials, etc?
Sure! Wordpress tutorials are great. Anything design related, css, tutorials. Case studies etc. Check out smashing magazine, css-tricks, nettuts, psdtuts. Anything you see there is fine with us!
I might be interested but who retains rights to the article?
Would I retain rights so I can cross post it to my own blog
(after a couple of weeks so you get the worth out of it first!)
Let me revise that soon. We retain all rights to stop dup content and such. But after 9 months you can repost it.
9 months?! Any information in a blog post will usually become redundant within 9 months. That seems a long time.
We need to keep them for 9 months so google knows it’s completely ours. PSDTuts, Nettuts etc says the same. We like all content on our blog to be 100% unique!
Ok but you don’t need to ‘retain all rights’, surely the author would retain all rights and would simply grant you exclusive rights for 9 months to publish it on webdevlounge with an agreement that after 9 months you lose your exclusive rights but are still able to display it on the site mentioned above.
The reason for this is that if you are given all rights then you could print them, sell them, do whatever you wanted - which isn’t what the person is agreeing to. They are agreeing to write a post for webdevlounge.
I think you guys really need to sit down and work out how you are going to license content from people. Just so everyone knows where they stand
Yeah that is the plan. We want exclusive rights for 9 months. Then you can publish it wherever you want aslong as we retain a publishing right.
Cheers

Nice blog. I’ve subscribed to both RSS and e-mail subscription.
And I’ll see if I have some time to write a guest post (or two). When you post the article here, will you credit the guestposter with name and link to their own website?
No problem Fabian. You will get credit + a name and link aslong as you add them in the user profile in your wp-admin.
Cheers
